MIOC the post-nominal that signals it

Joinery is unregulated. The qualifications you list become the trust signal.

No statutory regulation. No equivalent of Gas Safe or NICEIC. Anyone can call themselves a joiner. The Institute of Carpenters (IOC) is the closest thing to a recognised body. Its MIOC and FIOC post-nominals carry weight with educated customers.

Most joiner sites list qualifications in a footer paragraph nobody reads. We surface them as part of the brand: "Thomas Joinery MIOC." The post-nominal does the silent quality signalling that the customer was looking for.

The maths

If one bespoke staircase commission lands a year at £4,000 margin, what's that worth long-term?

Bespoke joinery commissions are high-margin and word-of-mouth-generating. One lead a year covers years of Growth. See what's in Growth.

Built for joiners and carpenters

What you get from a site built specifically for joiner work.

01

Portfolio that earns the price

Bespoke joinery commands premium pricing because of craft. The portfolio is the entire sales pitch. We build a gallery indexed by project type: staircases, kitchens, fitted wardrobes, heritage.

02

Qualifications worn properly

NVQ Level 3, MIOC, Guild of Master Craftsmen. Listed in the hero, not the footer. The customer paying for craft wants to see the credentials that justify it.

03

FENSA for window and door work

If you fit windows or external doors, FENSA or Certass is the Competent Person Scheme. Customers explicitly search "FENSA registered joiner [town]". We surface it.

04

Heritage and conservation surfaced for the right customer

Listed building work, traditional joinery, heritage staircases. A separate landing page with imagery aimed at the conservation-conscious customer.

Questions joiners and carpenters ask us

Common questions, plain answers.

Joinery is unregulated. Does that mean credentials don't matter?
Opposite. Because anyone can call themselves a joiner, your listed qualifications carry more weight here than in regulated trades. NVQ Level 3, MIOC, Guild membership: these are how customers distinguish craft from cowboys. We surface them prominently.
I fit windows and external doors too. Does that matter?
Yes. If you're FENSA or Certass registered, we feature that prominently with the Building Regulations explainer. Customers searching "FENSA joiner" already know what they're looking for. High-intent traffic.
What about heritage and listed-building work?
If you specialise, we build a dedicated heritage landing page with conservation imagery, period detail, and any Worshipful Company or specialist training surfaced. Higher-value, more discerning customer segment.
Will the portfolio look professional?
Yes. We build a proper indexed gallery: staircases, kitchens, wardrobes, doors, heritage, each project page optimised for Google. Bespoke joinery sells on photos before words.
How fast can the site go live?
Seven days from the discovery call. Once we have your qualifications, accreditations, service area, and a folder of project photos, we can usually get a first build over within 3 to 4 days.
